This month in Trends Home we bring you a different post. There is a little less than a month left for summer to start and many people take advantage of this season to take a vacation and make a getaway. Whether it is a short or long trip, near or far away; at Trends Home we have created a list of must-see places to visit if you are a design lover or curious to discover more about this field.

This list gathers museums around the world and we promise it won't leave you indifferent, if you want to know more keep reading!

SPAIN:

Barcelona Design Museum: This museum is located in the Disseny Hub Barcelona, a municipal complex located in the Poble Nou neighborhood. In it you can find different spaces and rooms; from activities to permanent and temporary exhibitions. In its permanent exhibitions you can find pieces of furniture and decorative arts as well as other pieces of design. If you plan to go to Barcelona, you can not miss this place.

National Museum of Decorative Arts: Located in Madrid, the National Museum of Decorative Arts houses a large sample of furniture, ceramics, glass, textiles ... In it you can see the museum collection, but also hold temporary exhibitions and have objects dating from the s. XIV. The most interesting thing about this museum is to observe the evolution of the techniques and materials used.

EUROPE:

Bildmuseet: Known as the Image Museum of Umeå; this Swedish museum was founded in the 80's and you can find contemporary art works of design, architecture and photography. When visiting it is worth to be aware of the temporary exhibitions that take place in it. Previously in the Bildmuseet there have been interesting exhibitions such as Charles and Ray Eames, a couple responsible for great designs that today are real jewels.

Triennale: This time we move to the Italian city of Milan, where the Triennale museum is located. Here you can find a collection of 1600 pieces of Italian design among which are objects such as the Arco lamp by Achille Castiglioni, for example. If you visit Milan this museum is an almost obligatory visit that you will enjoy for sure.

Design Museum Danmark: Furniture, product, industrial design... If all this sounds good to you and your destination is Denmark you can't miss this museum. Its collection houses great pieces of Danish design by designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm or Hans J. Wegner, creators of well-known pieces of furniture. In addition, in its café, you can have a drink surrounded by furniture and objects by the aforementioned designers.

V&a Dundee: If you're visiting Scotland, the V&A Dundee museum opened its doors in 2018. Its incredible building contains both permanent and temporary exhibitions and features displays of architecture, furniture, fashion...

The Design Museum: Located next to the River Thames, The Design Museum is the place you have to visit if you go to London. Fashion, architecture, furniture, product... In this museum you can find interesting pieces such as the Barcelona chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich or the Red and Blue chair by Gerrit Rietveld. They also offer lectures and family activities, so it is worth to be aware of their program.

Vitra Design Museum: In the German city of Weil am Rhein we find the Vitra Design Museum, considered one of the most important design museums in the world. It is dedicated to both research and presentation of design pieces and has held exhibitions of designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and the Bauhaus. You'll love their collection of furniture, lighting and objects.

USA:

MoMA: Who hasn't heard of the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan? For those lucky enough to visit the great city of New York, MoMA is a must-see. It hosts major exhibitions and events and you can see pieces such as the juicer, the Juicy Salif by Philippe Starck and espresso maker and Richard Sapper's Juicy Salif, both by Alessi.

Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum: This is the only museum in New York dedicated exclusively to design. Among other things, you can find very interesting pieces of decorative art, ceramics, furniture..

A+D Museum: We move from New York to Los Angeles to find the A+DMuseum. Dedicated to architecture and design, in it we can find activities and exhibitions related to interior design, product design,..

ISRAEL:

Holon Design Museum. Our last stop is nothing more and nothing less than in Israel to land in the Holon Museum. Open since 2010, this museum houses great objects among which you can find furniture, textile design and more contemporary design accessories: chairs with unimaginable shapes and original objects.
