This month at Trends Home we have had the pleasure of interviewing designer Yolanda Cubo, a professional who has always had a passion for the world of interior design
Yolanda Cubo studied design in Palma de Mallorca and defines herself as an art lover and a tireless traveler. These characteristics have led her to have a style of her own that is in continuous evolution; we could say that it is a style "parisian chic"with a Mediterranean flair.
Yolanda's professional career has included co-founding a studio, being responsible for brand styling and marketing and collaborating with prestigious international studios
"For each project to be unique and special you just have to know the people" Yolanda Cubo.
- what led you to work in the world of interior design?
- Since I was a child I always had a passion for transforming and beautifying spaces.
- what has been your favorite project so far?
- The next one ;)
- what adjectives define your style?
- Balanced eclecticism. Serene interiors with a lot of personality.
- what do you think is more important, functionality or aesthetics?
- Both. I can't conceive a good project without combining both.
- what are your favorite materials?
- Without a doubt the noble materials: wood, marble and plants. When renovating, I try to restore them whenever I can, so the house doesn't lose its original essence.
- which room do you enjoy working in the most?
- All of them because they start from an original concept that allows you to have a global vision of the whole project.
- what are your favorite decorative elements?
- The lamps. When it comes to designing, I get excited about lighting. For me it is an essential part of the house.
- what trends do you think are going to hit hard in the near future and which ones would you bet on?
- In color we continue with the millennial pink, ocher and blues. In terms of style, I'm still betting on eclecticism, but not so baroque. There is a new turn towards almost futuristic minimalism.
- what do you usually do when you need inspiration?
- I, for example, go to as many fairs as I can. Art and travel are some of my passions that also influence me quite a bit.
- what would be your dream project?
- More than dream, the perfect project for me, is the one where the harmony with the owner is so great that his house perfectly reflects his personality.
- And finally, what are your favorite pieces from Trends Home?
- Origami desk from Ethnicraft, the Nordic style furniture designed by your interior designer Mikel and the textiles.
YOLANDA CUBO'S DECORATIVE TIPS OR TRICKS:
- Use white and neutral colors as a base, then you can always add some color to give personality to the room.
- Plants always give a lot of life and brighten up any corner.
- Use trends with certain permeability, adapting them to each project, so the result will be unique
- Less is more. When in doubt, always. It is my Leitmotiv
- When thinking about the distribution of furniture, go for symmetry, the result will always be balanced.
